In wild no two photographs are the same. As subject is never at one position all the time and tiger never waits for us to pose.
Imagine sitting atop an elephant amides a thick jungle, surrounded by the calls of alarmed deers, and clicking the Royal Bengal Tiger to glory.
Seeing a wild tigers in their natural surrounding is an experience by itself and taking back those moments is even more fulfilling. Indeed a picture is worth more than a thousand words.
Tiger Photography Safari
Wildlife photography is very different from other forms of photography. Unlike other types of photography, in wildlife photography, each photographs is unique and different. The subject is never at one place. In wildlife photography, the photographer requires essential two things one of course been a photographer and second being a wildlife admirer.
Tiger are generally active during early morning just around sunrise and then during sunset. Unlike leopard tiger are strategic hunters, they capture and kill their prey in a particular manner. Recognizing a tiger’s habitat is must, for they avoid hilly or thorny areas. During summers months tigers spend most of the time in water. The best time to photograph to tigers is when they in water or at kill. Tigers tend to be aggressive when on skill and defiantly dangerous when a tigress with cubs. The animals should be viewed from a safe distance.
Tips for Tiger Photography
Photographing wildlife and more specifically tigers requires certain points in mind.
1. While sitting on an elephant, it is most likely hood of having camera shake when clicking. Steps should be taken to avoid camera shake.
2. When using rolled based camera, please carry sufficient camera rolls, as it is uncertain you might come across a fantastic moment to take a photograph but do not have rolls to take it. Or for those using digital enough memory should be there to address the issue highlighted.
3. The Jungle conditions can be dusty steps should be taken to cover the equipment from dust. This is more acute when one is tracking a tiger on a jeep. Always cover the equipment which can be readily removed to take pictures. It is suggested that once finished taking photographs or while traveling in a jeep, the best is to cover the camera with a cotton cloth which is very easy to remove and effectively prevents large amount of dust from settling on the lens.
4. Once back into your hotel or base. Clean the camera thoroughly and remove any dust on the lens.
5. If working on digital, re-visit your photographs and remove/delete photographs that are not required, in order to keep the memory free for next day’s shoot.
6. There many internet cafes in main cities where one can download images onto a CD, thereby freeing the memory chip.
7. Dress in earthy colors. Red, white, orange and yellow should be completely avoided. Dresses which blend with the natural surroundings should be worn. Generally greens and browns are recommended for these purposes.
8. Always carry a hat as sun can be un-relenting when on safari sometimes.
9. Carry some snacks like biscuit and water bottle to overcome sudden hunger pranks.
10. Maintain silence when on safari as it is prudent not to disturb the animals being photographed.
11. Always remember we are visitors in the animal kingdom and not disturbing them is their right.
